Counter-Style Host Desks & POS Stations

The counter-style hostess desk is popular in contemporary, fast-casual, and full-service restaurants where a classic sloped podium is too formal or too limiting. A 36–48 inch wide, 20–24 inch deep worktop gives a standing host room for a tablet, card reader, printer, phone, menus, and takeout orders without crowding.

The staff work surface is typically 40–42 inches high — a comfortable standing counter height for running reservations and POS. We can build a dedicated 34-inch maximum accessible transaction surface alongside it, or a pullout accessible top like the Mister Mister stand shown here. That keeps the primary workstation functional for staff while providing guests a proper lower service point.

We build in the details that turn a counter into a usable POS station: concealed power and cable routes, a tablet mount or recessed tablet position, a cash drawer bay, locking storage, a receipt-printer shelf, and a takeout pickup shelf. Every host desk is built in the same finish package as the rest of the restaurant millwork.
