Host Stand Style — Podium

Restaurant Host Podiums

The traditional tapered-top podium form, built to commercial standards and your restaurant's finish package.

A host podium is the classic form: a tapered stand with a sloped top surface for the reservation book, a lower shelf below for menus, and a cabinet below that. We build them in the same laminate, veneer, or painted finishes as the rest of your millwork.

Hostess podium for restaurant entry — custom millwork built in Pittsburgh PA

The podium silhouette is the most legible front-of-house statement a restaurant can make. It signals where to go and what the restaurant is about before a word is spoken. That's why we treat the host podium as a piece of the overall design package rather than a catalog item — the finish, the hardware, and the proportions should match the dining room behind it.

We also build what's often called a maitre d' stand: a taller, narrower podium designed for a standing host in a formal dining room. The maitre d' stand typically runs 44–46 inches tall with a 14–16 inch wide top surface — narrower than a standard host podium, which runs 20–24 inches wide. Both are built to your spec.

Host podiums and hostess stand podium configurations can include all the same functional features: drawers with locking cylinders, a tip box, a tablet shelf, or a mobile caster base. The podium shape is a starting point, not a constraint.
